Even if we add 5 or 10 more for people that read Burnsland and do not post, that's still not many. I guess the Carolwood Pacific Society was the original target audience and maybe some of the members don't know about or post on Burnsland.
Feel the same way. I know the first argument is price. It's not the worst once you realize it's more than likely a once in a life time build to get a all metal Lilly that is very close to the real thing. Mine will go to my kids when I kick the bucket. Considering the long run price of a large Schucco kit or even some of the original Disneyanna some collect I don't feel it's that unreasonable long run. As you mentioned this board maybe not as wide known as we first thought. Starting to rant sorry.

Hi IDMT129

I paid about $1750 for mine on eBay. Original box, etc. but one of the decals was torn on the back of the cab. Accucraft sent me two new ones. I've never regreted buying it although my wife does not understand but lets me enjoy it.

It is absolutly beautiful and I look at it every day in my office. Michael Campbell did a great job.

Hello,
We have #81 in Oak Hills, CA and will soon have it up on its new suspended layout. We are missing the flagpoles though, if anyone has extras or knows where we can purchase identical poles.

Hi Oakhills,

I have the Accucraft LB also and do not have any flag poles. Do any owners know if they came with the LB when new? Got mine used.

Thanks,

the candle stick flag pole holders were included with the LB. Check the box for a small package. Flags were NOT included.

Great, thanks for the info. Looks like Walt used to run it with the posts only, no flags.

I wonder if Accucraft would have some. They were great when I called for a couple of replacement decals for the back of the LB cab.

The flag stands were shipped in a small ziplock bag. We didn't want to mount them on the pilot for shipping because I was certain they'd get bent in transit. Accucraft might have some extra.

I don't know of any photos showing flags on the Lilly Belle at Carolwood. However, Walt did have miniature American flags put on the engine for the "Wonderland" promo film shot at the Studio. I inferred that he liked having the flags on Lilly Belle for the publicity shots, so I had them recreated for the display at the WDFM. These were printed on stiff canvas which we bent a bit to make it look like the flags are waiving in the breeze. The cantons have 48 stars, of course. Hillcrest Shops made the actual flag poles that fit into the flag stands (the originals have been lost many years ago).

I also just recently purchased my Lilly Belle and it was also missing the the brass flag pole holders. I called Cliff at Accucraft and he told me that they didn't have any and recommended that I try Trackside Details.

There is a picture on the website of one they offer. To me it doesn't look close to the original.

Any ideas?

Hello, This is my first post. The flag poles were included with the Lilly Belle. I have 2 Lilly Belles.
I have #132 and #169. Both came with the flag poles. Don't jump all over me, but my #132 is currently in pieces as I disassembled it to paint it up as Virginia & Truckee #18, the Dayton.
I am a big fan of the V&T, and since there is no large scale engines modeled after the V&T, I decided to make one myself. The Lilly Belle was the obvious choice as it is modeled after the
Central Pacific #173. The Dayton is basically the same locomotive as the CP 173, as both were built at the same time by Andrew Stevens of the CP at their Sacramento shops in 1873. By the way, the Virginia & Truckee's #17, "Columbus" was also built at the same time and to the same specifications. The only difference was the Columbus was built as a coal burner instead of wood. The Columbus' remains were scrapped early in the 1900's after all reusable parts were stripped.

I think it's great that you used the engine to create a V&T locomotive. Have any photos?
