Nara Dreamland Railroad?

Post by Pennyf9Train »

i know this isn't a Disney Park but i've seen photos of Nara Dreamland's railroad. The steam engine looks like an porter 2-6-0 that was imported to Japan in the 1870s. did their railroad go around the whole park like Disneyland?

Wow, I hadn't heard of this! Thanks for bringing it up. Very interesting photos at http://www.michaeljohngrist.com/2010/09 ... heme-park/. Kinda spooky, but great photos! Reminds you of one of those "Logan's Run" type movies where in the future they find strange places from the past. Could be a dead Disney park, many years from now. He has a Google Earth photo, but I couldn't locate the area it on Google Earth yet. On his photo you can't see the whole park perimeter. But on the map it appears that the train does circle the park.

I believe I saw somewhere that they had a custom fabricators 0-4-4T that was named the E. S. Marsh with excursion like cars.

This shot on Flickr hints at the train:

Externally, the Benkei does look like a Porter Mogul - but the cab doesn't look like a steam engine. What kind of drive does it have?
