Thanks.
As for the last name, no. I wish I had that kind of talent.

Re: Big Thunder Mt. builder's plate?
Is MTV maybe the foundry stamp? I know Tom Grace had all his reproductions made at the same foundry Disney had the original BTMRR plates made. I own one of the Grace plates, it is bright polished brass, Burgundy background, and very heavy. It is mounted on a piece of walnut. I only wish I remembered the name of the foundry Tom told me.

For those who are interested, I haven't discovered any new info on my plate, but I do have a cast of my plate on eBay at the moment:

Just letting everyone know that I have another casting on ebay.
This one is in bronze, which seems to be the metal used for the original I have:

Re: Big Thunder Mt. builder's plate?
Interesting news on the Big Thunder builder's plate. I made the original pattern for it to be used on the flat steam cylinder. They were cast in brass and some Graphics members received a copy. Except me! My boss didn't like me because John Hench hired me. As a note here also, I did the number plates and builder's plates for Paris. The fourth loco wasn't built until after I left Disney in California so my friend and fellow designer did those following my original designs. It would be nice to have copies of these designs.

Thanks Tom! Interesting insights.
Any truth to the story that the "BTM" also refers to Tony Baxter? Seems like nothing more than a coincidence to me.

Re: Big Thunder Mt. builder's plate?
Tom,
If you want to talk off line, PM me. I was told my plate was displayed at WDW at the entrance to the ride but it did not patina correctly so it was replaced with another weathered plate. It is still bright and shiny brass colored with some pitting, but not a lot.
We can discuss if you can have a casting made form it. It is firmly attached to a walnut round with I am pretty sure some serious bonding agent. It has not been tapped to accept screws and I honestly think it is a little larger than the ones on the engines.

[Resurrecting a thread from 2015!]
Just curious if anyone here knows of any metal versions of the Big Thunder Iron Works builder's plates available for sale. There are wood or resin versions on Etsy, but they look hinkey to me.
I know Tom Grace made several of these way back when and am hoping that one pops up at some point. No urgency, just want to add it to the collection.
Thanks!
