Re: Issues with Mark VIIs?
Well I just arrived at the resort havent entered either park yet, but from my room at the Grand Californian, I can see that just Orange is on(8/15/11). Really the thing is they need 4 Mark VIIs, what were they thinking when they only built 3?! Speaking of forgeting things to fix, they forgot to fix that leaky cylinder cock on the Gurley when they rebuilt it.

Nothing was "forgotten."TFN5459 wrote:Speaking of forgeting things to fix, they forgot to fix that leaky cylinder cock on the Gurley when they rebuilt it.

Well that cock is still leaky. I correct myself there are now both online Mark VII Blue and Mark VII Orange. The wait times were reasonable. Seems a lot bouncier than last time I was here....

I said it wasn't "forgotten," as you state. The Dog posted this to a thread you yourself started just a few months agao, explaining the situation (I guess you didn't read it):TFN5459 wrote:Well that cock is still leaky.
As for the Gurley, what happened sometime before the loco went out for a rebuild, the leaking cock got wacked by a hammer to try and knock out the bit o debris lodged within, but a little too much hammering went a long way! That cock is now broken, but because the Roundhouse can't place a work order and just get the work done under their supervision, it hasn't happened. Now the process it to generate a work order and then engineering has to get involved. The red tape is now a major hurdle to over come!

Yes I did read the Dog's post. I still dont know why Disney has such a complicated policy about fixing things. Now back to the Mark VIIs, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a Mark VII Purple. After all they did advertise that they can run 3 Mark VIIs at a time.

Disney's policy in regards to maintenance is not much different than most large company's in this day and age. Bean counters love paper , and it has become a major factor as to why it costs so much to get anything done. When you have to have a half dozen signatures on a work order when it use to require only one, two tops it definitely thows a wrench into the works. All it takes is one person not to sign off on it and it kills it. Now the Mouse is not entirely to blame, though, as the State of CA requires a ton of paper work as well when anything is done.
