Just wondering a few things with the new red cars trollies that are coming next year.
1. How many will there be? 2 or 3.
2. Who will operate them? Will they be under the management of the Disneyland railroad?
3. Where will they be stored? Are they building a trolley barn or roundhouse at DCA?

Re: DCA Red Cars questions
I believe there wil be only two cars.
I doubt anyone from the DL steam trains will be involved, just like the Jolly Trolly or horse drawn streetcar CMs weren't/aren't DRR CMs.
Don't know about No. 3. I'm sure there must be a car barn/storage facility for maintenance, but I wouldn't know where t is.

Re: DCA Red Cars questions
Are these going to be actual operable trolleys or horse drawn trolleys? Are there any pictures/drawings out there?

Re: DCA Red Cars questions
They look to be scaled down cars based loosely on a 'Hollywood Car'. The only horses involved will be the ones associated with the traction motors.
If the Lord had meant mankind to walk he would not have invented STEAM!

Re: DCA Red Cars questions
I think they might store them next to the Hollywood Tower Hotel(Twilight Zone Tower of Terror), next to A Bugs Land. That is just a probable guess.

^ Your guess is correct; They've already built a facility that houses the two Red Cars that is led from the Hollywood access gate.

And just so we are clear about who is going to run these things, if steam is not the motive power, it will be an attractions cast member that will be operating the trolley. No one from the DRR would want to do it.

I sure hope they wouldn't. Any CM can run a darn trolley, but only a select few like Dog can properly run a steam locomotive. The Dog wrote:And just so we are clear about who is going to run these things, if steam is not the motive power, it will be an attractions cast member that will be operating the trolley. Re: DCA Red Cars questions
I beg to differ, sir. Drive your happy rear over to S.F. and visit the Cable Car museum and round house and then tell those guys that anyone can do their job and see the response you get. I also have a great respect for the folks that operate the horse drawn trolleys on Main Street in all 3 Parks I have visited. Controling a live horse in crowds is an incredible feat. Getting a horse to actually do it's job in a crowd is a miracle.TFN5459 wrote: Any CM can run a darn trolley, but only a select few like Dog can properly run a steam locomotive.
The DRR and WDWRR crews are in a class by themselves. Hats off to these folks for sure. too bad the top hat emo guy is gone.
On a side note, in WDW Hollywood Studios there is a sign advertising the Red Cars on a billboard as you enter the gates. It is perched high on the first shop just after guest services on the left side of the street looking towards the Scorcer's hat.
Re: DCA Red Cars questions
Enough, of the misnomers! A "trolley" is a specific type of electric car, period. No horsecar or cablecar is a trolley.
