Disney Inc Engineer's Cap

Post by mtpalms »

In the early 80s, my father in law was a RR engineer at Disneyland. I am doing some spring cleaning and found this cap - I looked for information about it, but have only found info on conductor's caps. Can anyone tell me about it, would it be of interest to a collector?

Not RR related, but I am also looking for info on this medallion from 1983. Is there a place like this I could go to to find out something about it:

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi mtpalms,

Welcome aboard! Yes, the hat you have there would definitely be of interest to collectors. They are fairly rare.

It was the hat used after the Santa Fe ended sponsorship of the trains, probably in use from the late 1970s/early 1980s through about 1988, when the design was replaced with something a little more...um...attractive. Yours appears to be in very good condition, and would probably command a good price.

Im sure some of our other members can give you good info on the medallion.

The symbol under the Walt Disney signature appears to be sort-of steam locomotive-ish(?), yet blazing past at warp speed.

And "Walt Disney Incorporated"???......Eeewwww.

Yes, the stylized locomotive doesn't really seem to be Disney calibre, does it? Not sure how this one ever got approved, but I suppose stranger things have happened.
