What's happening with the Ripley? I haven't seen this locomotive in any recent videos or photos. Just wondering. Will be taking my first ever trip to Disneyland in March. Can't wait to see this railroad and park!!!

Re: E P Ripley
Currently out of service with a multitude of problems though Disney presently does not appear to be interested in remedying those issues. The last time the Ripley ran was January of 2016 before the railroad went down, from what I understand it's been stored in the back of the roundhouse ever since the railroad reopened.Tommy Gray wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:17 pm What's happening with the Ripley? Wasn't the last time the Ripley was shopped was back in 1998? That's twenty one years ago.

Re: E P Ripley
I've only heard rumors and speculation, but I've heard that the electrical systems on the Ripley need to be completely redone since the wiring was damaged when the engine was taken apart for wiring. Additionally, there have been murmurs that the running gear needs some mechanical work as well as some minor work in the boiler. I don't have a source that could verify this so take it with a grain of salt, but something has definitely kept the Ripley sidelined since the railroad reopened.

Will take my first trip ever to Disneyland next week!!! I've been to WDW many times, but this is a first. I hope I can get a tender ride. I'm excited to see the original park and these trains.

Re: E P Ripley
Well, I'm back from the trip! My wife, oldest daughter and I had a great time. The Disneyland Railroad was running 3, 4, & 5 all four park days we had. I did ask for a tender ride on #4, but was told they weren't doing those on that day. Never did see #1, not even in the roundhouse as we passed by. The locomotives all looked great and seemed to be in great shape. I know the railroad is operated on a "speed limit" but it seemed on the slow side. When three trains are running I guess that is just how it is. I did enjoy a round trip in the caboose. That is something I'll never forget. The trains were usually packed until late into the evening. Our last ride on our last day before we left was a nighttime round trip aboard the train. There's something extra special about riding a Disney train at night. It was a great trip and I hope to go back one day.
