Van Eaton Galleries Auction - Don Rake Collection

Post by Rob Fendler »

This little bit of Disneyland Railroad history should get everyones attention here. A collection of paper work from the widow of Don Rake is going up for auction soon. He worked with Roger Broggie to get the engineering correct on the track.

Would love to get my hands on those documents, but the price is a bit steep, to say the least!

However, at least now we know another name of someone involved in the early construction of the railroad.

I wonder where Rake ranked on the org chart.

It's pretty clear that Earl Vilmer was in charge of overall railroad construction (along with the horse car track). It sounds like Rake did the track calculations and engineering under Vilmer. I will have to go through my documents and see what I can come up with. This is all very interesting.
