Steve- I share your frustration, but Pullman is contacting the right sources. Midway, Keystone and Scully (in Canada) are all uniform hat/cap makers who supply retail uniform companies. Some others have gone out of business over the years. It is still a handmade craft for the most part, but the materials have changed over the years. I have a friend and colleague that maybe I should reach out to- he runs a studio that builds custom hats, masks and millinery for Broadway shows, Ringling Brothers, etc. He may have some company to suggest if Pullman can't find a shop to do this.

If the Ebay seller manufacturers these hats, it may be an option. Just needs to reverse the cane and fabric, and square off the brim.

That sounds like an excellent suggestion!

The eBay hat is offered by Gifts for Rails and I believe it is made by Midway. Steve, I will try to contact my friend in NYC.

Update so far today:

William Scully cannot produce what we need.

Waiting on a reply from Keystone.

A custom studio would be welcomed. Obviously, price will reflect that, but craftsmanship is worth paying for.

Here's what we hopefully be looking at: Retlaw7's beautiful repro badge mounted on a DRR Conductor Hat. I have temporarily have the badge on an elastic strap prior to mounting it with appropriate cap buttons- hopefully in the future, too?

Looks really sharp, VC! Will look even better with brass buttons.
