Thank you for the fantastic news. Engine 41 has been just sitting there in the engine house for so long that I was beginning to wonder if it would ever steam up again. It's fantastic to see that Cedar Fair is getting it back to good as new again.

Good news about my favorite non-Disney locomotive! This was the first engine I was able to walk alongside while it started moving, watching the motion of the Stephenson valve gear oscillate within the frames. Mesmerizing.

It appears that between several senior maintenance staff retiring and then the shut down due to the pandemic that the overhaul of the #41 in house had stalled. Cedar Fair is dealing with the finding suitable staff for Knott's, along with finding a replacement of the long time superintendent of the Cedar Point & Lake Erie at Cedar Point, who after 47 years pulled the pin last Fall.

I did not know that he had retired. (I won't mention his name here for privacy reasons.) I met him quite a few years back one morning and he gave me a nice personal behind the scenes tour of the roundhouse of the C.P. & L.E. R.R. before Cedar Point opened for the day. Congratulations to him. After 47 years he has certainly earned it!

I was within hours of what would ultimately be my last day at CP when he arrived for his first day, he seemed to be a real good guy.

I spent the last three days at Knott's Berry Farm and currently the Galloping Goose is inside the engine house where Engine 41 was parked for a long time.
