Mark, The wire and trolley pickup idea sounds great! It actually sounds very similar to Schuco's pickup system. One advantage monorails have(over electric trains) is that the running gear is hidden, so you can use as many pickups as you need. Here's kind of a hybrid idea: you could use an RC, or inf...

I'm sure if Walt were around, he'd want you to make him one of your models, too! :)

...there's no guarantee that future "Disney Monorail" products will be the same scale as the current models or even work with them... I must say, it's encouraging to see Disney improve the monorails, by adding the interiors and figures. I'm guessing the next big thing will be battery-op M...

Remember, these are toys. I doubt Disney gave any thought to the scale. Are the monorail accessory playsets built to the same scale as the monorail? No way! They are made to look good for the 3+ age group. The monorail is sized to be handled by kids. If the monorail had caught on as a model-railroa...

From the low-resolution drawings of the Mark VI train I have, my measurements and calculations suggest a door height of approx. 81.5". If accurate, the battery-op is closest to OO scale, and the die-cast is about 1/109. :? I get the impression Disney doesn't want their monorails too easily comp...

Interesting about the scale of the battery-op monorails: they should go perfectly with American Flyer trains, and 1/64 die-cast cars, such as Hot Wheels. Has anyone checked the scale of the smaller die-cast static model monorail sets? I have only briefly seen them in person. Also, has anyone convert...

...Note that the Schuco take a lot of power and you need to buy G-scale power (as opposed to HO). My favorite transformer is the LGB 50081 as it works well and puts out up to 1AMP at 24Volts (the trains need about 250mA to 400mA). The 24V may be higher voltage than the "rated spec" but I ...
