Re: The Bell Telephone Hour Presents "The Sounds of America" (Disneyland 1961)
Very cool Sam! In the opening, it looks like the engine is making a pretty sweeping left-hand turn--not sure where that was, but it does give lie to the DL publicity department assertion that the recent track realignment for SWGE created the first left-hand turn in Park history! Also--great video of...

Re: UP Big Boy 4014 on Jay Leno's Garage
When I lived in the Valley and worked in Century City, Jay and I would pass each other on Coldwater Canyon as he drove into Burbank to tape The Tonight Show.
He had a different car. Every. Single. Day.

Re: Disneyland Railroad Down For Track Replacement
I don't have any new info. The last time the track was replaced was nearly 20 years ago, shortly before the 50th, so I guess that gives you a rough life span for railroad track (actually, 20 years is about the lifespan of a wooden cross tie). Last time, railroad contractor Sharp & Fellows did th...

I do have to say that Michael definitely does his research. I know for a fact that he spends a lot of time trying to be as factually accurate as possible. I, too, learn something new from each episode.

Well, that's unfortunate. Talk about eliminating character. I didn't even like when the changed 41's name to "Walter K," from the original D&RG "Red Cliff."Bruce R Pier wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 12:31 pm Yeah, it's true https://www.knotts.com/rides-experience ... o-railroad

Re: Knott's Berry Farm No. 41
Thanks for the details Steve! For some reason I got a little chuckle out of the fact that the locomotive inspector's name was "Leakey." It actually was "Laekey," but it got auto-corrected. Someone told me that the GT&C RR has been re-named to just the "Calico Rail...
