Re: Conductors Caps Redux
I didn't say it above, but I am somewhat convinced that Lancaster made the Disneyland caps. Odds are good that someone at the Santa Fe or a former employee was asked where they got their uniform caps from. Desmond's was likely the answer, and I would hazard a guess that Lancaster manufactured the ca...

Re: Conductors Caps Redux
It's been a while on this subject. A few thoughts on the original 1955 conductor hats/caps. I did see an original at one point. It has a label from Desmonds, in Southern California. Desmond's was originally a hat shop, but by 1955 had developed into a full-service chain of department stores, with cl...

Re: Emma Nevada Fundraising Excursion - Saturday, Oct 15th
We have added a second car for this trip due to demand. And it has a bit of a Disney connection! The dorm-lounge "Acoma" was built in 1937 for the famed Santa Fe Super Chief. That same year, Walt and Lillian traveled aboard the Super Chief from Los Angeles to Chicago on their way to and fr...

Re: Hawaiian Railway Society to be back under steam with WACo 6
There was a plan to have a new boiler built for the locomotive. It was disassembled by volunteers to start the process. I don't know all of the details, but I believe money was advanced for the project and it was never completed. Someone with more intimate knowledge willing to speak on the subject m...

Re: "Disney's Steam Trains" exhibit in Main Street Opera House
Overall, it is a nice exhibit.
And yes, there are a number of items seen before, both here at Disneyland and at the Walt Disney Family Museum exhibitions.
If you haven't seen these items before, worth a visit.

Re: Conductors Caps Redux
A further update. Midway informed me that they have no way to shape the faux/plastic cane. Still working on alternatives. It may be that a custom basket maker can produce the wicker cane part of the cap and the lower part produced by another manufacturer could be joined as a final product. Price of ...
