Re: Are Theme Park Steam Locomotives bound by the same FRA rules

The ASTM has a subcommittee (F24.60) currently working on a standard for amusement park steam locomotives. The rules are structured around the FRA requirements (CFR 49, Part 230) with exceptions when those rules don't apply (think 1-1/2" scale live steam). The work group is rounding third and h...

Re: Air Compressor Recomendations

I just purchased a Makita model # MAC2400 compressor I really like. It is oil lubricated so it is very quiet, has two small tanks and produces 4.2CFM, enough to power a pair of framing nailers. It is probably way too much compressor for air brushing, but if you want something that will drive pneumat...

Re: could their be a Disneyland #6?

A Shay, 12 tons in size, A in class, 2 in cylinders.

Re: Ventura County #2 at OERM

Hi Mows, I sent you a PM, feel free to contact me. I wouldn't monkey around with repairing the U bends. Unless the corrosion is very localized chances are the rest of the tubes have issues. If you use a nondestructive examination company you may be able to get them to do an iris test for you. This w...

Re: Ventura County #2 at OERM

What exactly are you looking for, superheater flues, superheater tubes, expertise, money? I only ask because your post was vague on what the OERM needs.

Thanks!

Re: SP #20 back in the day (ca. 1895)

I finally finished the front spring hangers for the 219. This means work can resume on assembling the drive components. Rain has been called for this Saturday so I probably won't come out, but as soon as there is a dry weekend I'll be back at it.

C'mon out!
